Welcome to the CYM Winnipeg 60th Anniversary Blog!

The weekend of October 9-11, 2009 promises to be an exciting few days here in Winnipeg. There will be plenty of ways to celebrate our first 60 years and reminisce about your days in CYM- past, present, and (for many of you starting families) hopefully the future! Our celebrations include a wine and cheese reception, a possible golfing day, a gala banquet, and a nostalgic visit to Ukrainian Park, where we have spent many a summer and made countless life-long friends. You'll want to reserve your tickets early to ensure your participation. This is not to be missed!

Урочисті святкування нашого 60-ліття запляновані на 9-11 жовтня, 2009 р. . Програма буде різноманітна і включатиме Зустріч з Вином і Сиром в п’ятницю
9-го жовтня, гру в ґолф (якщо погода позволить) і Святковий Бенкет в Інституті ‘Просвіта’ в суботу, 10- го жовтня з виступом вперше у Вінніпеґу Театрального Колективу “Спалений Театр” з Осередку СУМ ім. Миколи Павлушкова в Чікаґо. А в неділю – святочний Апель, барбек’ю і пращальна ватра в Українському Парку повинні викликати почуття носталгії і приємні спогади юних літ. Думаємо, що програма святкувань буде цікавою і дасть Вам можливість зустрінутись і поспілкуватись з бувшими друзями. Тому заохочуємо Вас вже замовляти квитки на ці небуденні імпрези і плянувати святкувати разом з нами.

Wine and Cheese

Come and enjoy a glass or three of wine, some delicious cheeses and snacks, and reminisce with other CYMivtsi about the "good ol' days"! We will also have entretainment for everyone to enjoy.

CYM Golf Day

Come enjoy a fun-filled day of golf with all your CYM buddies! This is not a competitive tournament, simply a great way to relax and spend some time with friends, so all are welcome to enter.

Shooters Golf Course

$40 Entry Fee includes:
Breakfast
Shared Cart
18 holes of golf

Breakfast will be at 8:30 a.m., with tee off at 9:30. Half the golfers will start on the 1st hole, and the other half on the 10th to make things quicker.

CYM Winnipeg 60th Anniversary Banquet

Cabaret Featuring "Spalenij Teater" from Chicago

Your $75 ticket includes:
Dinner
A performance by the youth of CYM Winnipeg
A comedy show featuring "Spalenij Teater" from Chicago
Dessert table
Cash bar
A tax receipt
Zabava from 11:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m.

There will also be a silent auction with many prize baskets, each valued at over $200. As well, the Grand Prize is two round trip tickets anywhere West Jet flies!

This fun-filled evening promises to be a sellout. Reserve your tickets early!

"Spalenij Teater" will be presenting a full comedy show which can be enjoyed by all ages! Laughter is main aim of this theatre troupe, hailing from CYM Chicago. The performance is full of jokes and puns which will hit home with every Ukrainian - from the "Plast vs. CYM Family Feud" skit to their hit song "Ukie School Dropout," the entire act will have you falling out of your chairs with laughter! Family Barbecue at Ukrainian Park

Don't let the weather keep you from joining in on the fun! We'll have access to the central kitchen facility so if it's chilly, step inside and warm up with a hot beverage. We'll have a moleben' at the Chapel, a Sviatochnay Apel', and then a vatra...and as you recall NOBODY builds a taller, wider, hotter vatra than our CYM boys. During the day, you can revisit the CYM cabin and check out our new gazebo!

We also plan to bless our Holodomor Icon, which was made by our CYM-ivtsi to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Famine-Genocide in Ukraine. It is a beautiful piece and you don't want to give up your chance to see it!

And, just in case Mother Nature isn't as kind to us we hope, the festivities will take place indoors at Institute Prosvita, 777 Pritchard Avenue.
